3 Common Roofing Troubles You Shouldn’t Ignore

So often the roof of a home is overlooked, because it’s somewhat out of sight / out of mind. But the truth is, it’s one of the most important aspects of your Sarasota home.

Small troubles can quickly turn to big inconveniences, and you have to be diligent in inspecting your homes roof. There are a few common issues that you may see or be aware of, that you might be ignoring.

Today, we’ll discuss three of the most common roofing troubles you may experience in your home, and why you shouldn’t ignore them any longer.

Small Leaks

Here in South Florida, we experience a ton of rain on a regular basis. And, it’s important to remember that when rain falls, the water will follow the path of least resistance.

All too often, a small leak in one room of your home may actually be from a roof issue in another nearby location of your home. It’s important to inspect the source of your roofing leak, or contact a professional roofing contractor to perform a thorough inspection of your roof, before a small hole becomes a big problem.

Indentations or Holes in Your Roof

You might think that it’s obvious that a hole in your roof is a major issue. However, indentations are just as important to inspect in your roof.

These indicate a vulnerability in the structure of the roof, and even if it is not leaking yet, that is likely inevitable if the issue is not resolved. Here in South Florida, holes in the roof may have been caused by flying debris or even simply strong winds which rip part of the roof off.

Keep in mind that you may not see a leak from that indentation during the dry season that we experience here in South Florida, but you still shouldn’t delay inspecting the indentations.

Debris

Everyone’s big concern is a tree falling on their home and destroying their roof. But tree branches can certainly cause a tremendous amount of damage as well. Keep in mind that branches and debris from trees can cover up a small hole or even fall into your gutters and cause a major clog.

We’ve discussed ways to safely clean out your gutters in the past, and it’s extra important to remember to check them regularly. Gutter clogged by branches can add extra weight to your roof and ruin the structural integrity of the entire system.

Conclusion

If you’re experiencing any of the issues above, be sure to contact a local roofing company with great reviews and experience to help you inspect or repair your roof.
